HARRISON Barnes declined an initial extension offer of $64 million from the Golden State Warriors.

Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the offer, and noted that while the four-year contract worth $16 million a year was turned down, it “appears to be a starting point in talks that could last until the Oct. 31 deadline for rookie extensions.”

The 23-year-old Barnes started in all 82 games in the regular season, averaging 10.1 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Warriors.

If an extension deal is not signed, Barnes will be a restricted free agent next year.

MVP Stephen Curry will earn a base salary of above $11 million this season and will be an unrestricted free agent in 2017, when he is 29.
