Jayson Tatum and Marcus Morris showed the way for the Celtics, who broke away in the second period after the first 12 minutes ended with the teams tied at 21.
Gordon Hayward survived his opener, starting and winding up with 10 points in 25 minutes of action.
Tatum wound up with 23 points and Morris came off the bench to score 16.
Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Ben Simmons also had a double-double of 19 and 15.
