GORDON Hayward's debut with the Boston Celtics could be short but definitely not sweet after suffering a gruesome ankle injury early in the season opener against the Cavaliers.
Hayward, a top free agent acquisition in the offseason, got hurt after twisting his left ankle in a bad fall six minutes into his Celtics debut on Tuesday in Cleveland (Wednesday, Manila time).
The incident had players on both teams and the fans at Quicken Loans Arena visibly shaken.
The All-Star forward was stretchered out and looks to be done for the season as initial tests has been reported that Hayward was diagnosed with a fractured ankle.
