Heat boost postseason bid and eliminate Knicks from playoff contention

GORAN Dragic had 20 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, and the Miami Heat eliminated the New York Knicks from the postseason with a 105-88 win on Wednesday night (Thursday, Manila time) at Madison Square Garden.

James Johnson added 18 points off the bench for the Heat, seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 37-38 record, same as the Indiana Pacers record after a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Josh Richardson had 17 points as Miami (37-38) leaned on its second half surge to improved to 26-8 since opening the season 11-30.

Kristaps Porzingis had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Knicks, who will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight season since winning the Atlantic Division in 2012-13. Carmelo Anthony finished with nine points on 4-of-12 shooting.

Derrick Rose did not play due to a sore left knee as New York lost its ninth match in in 11 games.
