THE Miami Heat ended a two-game skid with a 112-99 victory over the Hornets on Wednesday in Charlotte (Thursday, Manila time).
Goran Dragic and James Johnson showed the way for Miami, which broke away with a 34-22 third quarter en route to its 38th win in 78 outings.
The Heat regained eighth spot in the East after matching the 38-40 mark of seventh placed Chicago Bulls and ninth-placed Indiana Pacers.
Dragic scored 33 on 13 for 21 shooting, while Johnson went 10 for 12 and wound up with 26 points.
Josh Richardson added 19 points while Hassan Whiteside came up with 13 points and 20 rebounds.
The Hornets absorbed their second straight loss and 43rd in 79 outings.
Nicolas Batum scored 24 and Kemba Walker added 18 points for Charlotte.
