ROOKIE Tyler Johnson scored 23 points off the bench, Goran Dragic had 19 points and seven assists as the injury-riddled Miami Heat managed to hold off the Sacramento Kings 107-102 on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) to end a six-game losing streak.
The Heat bucked the absence of starters Hassan Whiteside and Justise Winslow and had all 10 players in the lineup score in the game.
Miami made 8 of 15 from downtown and had a 64-59 halftime lead. A layup by Willie Reed followed by a triple from Luke Babbitt keyed an 11-2 Heat run that saw the lead balloon to 19.
The Kings fought their way back to start the last period with a 10-2 run of their own.
Miami was holding on to a 105-102 lead when Johnson sank two foul shots with 11 seconds left. The Kings had a chance to send the game to overtime but a bad pass by Matt Barnes was stolen by Dragic to preserve the Heat win.
Reserves Aaron Afflalo, Ty Lawson and Garrett Temple each scored 15 points for Sacramento.
