PAU Gasol will donate $24,000 to the relief fund for victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) after vowing to give $1,000 to every point he scored in the Los Angeles Lakers’ Friday night (Saturday morning Manila time) game against the Golden State Warriors.
Gasol made a pledge on Thursday via his Twitter account and will give his donation for the United States fund of Unicef.
“Kids in the #Philippines need help. Im pledging $1,000 per pt @ Friday's game. Will u pledge w me?” Gasol tweeted.
Gasol scored 24 points in the Lakers’ 102-95 victory over the Warriors.
Gasol also encouraged his Twitter followers to donate on their own based on the statistics he will compile for Saturday’s game.
“OR join me by pledging $1, $5, $10, $20, or however much you can, for every point that I score Friday night. If you join me in pledging per point, please send me a tweet to let me know.
“Together we can help make a difference for the children of the Philippines! Your generosity will help UNICEF provide access to lifesaving care and support to millions of children in the Philippines.”
