THE Boston Celtics announced that Kevin Garnett has officially re-signed with the team following Ray Allen’s departure.
Garnett’s signing is part of the Celtics’ effort to keep a competitive lineup for another championship run despite Allen leaving the team to sign with the Miami Heat.
Also staying with the Celtics are Brandon Bass and Chris Wilcox.
“We are ecstatic that Kevin will continue his career with the Celtics,” said Danny Ainge, the Boston Celtics president of basketball operations in a press release issued by the team.
“Kevin has greatly changed the culture since he first put on a Celtics jersey and he has come to embody everything that we want in a Celtic,” Ainge added.
In other news, the New York Knicks have begun discussions on a possible sign-and-trade deal with Raymond Felton, according to ESPN.com.
The New Orleans Hornets have matched the Phoenix Suns’ offer sheet to restricted free agent Eric Gordon.
