BRANDON Jennings has reportedly reached a verbal agreement on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) to bolster the Washington Wizards backcourt for the rest of the season.

Sources told ESPN’s Chris Haynes that Jennings, released by the New York Knicks on Monday, has told the Wizards of his decision to join them after he clears waivers on Wednesday.

The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski also reported that the 6-foot-1 guard was on his way to Washington to sign his contract on Wednesday. League sources told Wojnarowski that Jennings has already discussed his role as backup point guard with Wizards star John Wall and GM Ernie Grunfeld.

The Wizards, though, need to waive a player to make room for Jennings, who averaged 8.6 points and 4.9 assists in 58 games with the Knicks. For his career, the 27-year-old guard is averaging 14.8 points and 5.8 assists.
