ANOTHER familiar face in Philippine basketball was selected in the NBA D-League Draft on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).
Cameroon’s Jean Victor Nguidjol, who played for Lyceum in the NCAA Season 91, was a surprise selection in the NBA D-League Draft when he was selected by the Austin Spurs with the 16th pick overall.
Austin is an affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs.
The selection of Nguidjol came as a surprise pick more so since he was selected even earlier by Bobby Ray Parks, who was picked 25th by the Texas Legends.
The 6-foot-10 Nguidjol averaged 11.06 points, 8.65 rebounds, and 1.65 blocks for the Pirates in Season 91.
The NBA D-League Draft website described Nguidjol as one of the intriguing picks in the draft, the list of which also included Parks.
“Nguidjol enters the US as an unknown, but the fact that the Spurs were intrigued enough take a chance on him early.”
