DWYANE Wade scored 20 points as the Chicago Bulls held on to beat San Antonio, 95-91, for the Spurs’ first road loss of the season on Thursday (Friday, Manila time) at the United Center.
The Bulls relied on a balanced attack to halt their three-game slide and finished the game with eight players scoring eight or more points.
Rajon Rondo flirted with a triple double to finish with 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Jimmy Butler had a bad shooting night (4-14 field goals) but was able to contribute 13 points. Robin Lopez and Taj Gibson added 12 points apiece.
The Spurs were haunted by their 32-point first half performance and never led in the game. They tried to stage a rally in the last quarter but Chicago always seemed to have a response from both ends.
Kawhi Leonard had 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Patty Mills scored 16 off the bench. Pau Gasol had 13 points and 10 rebounds while LaMarcus Aldridge had 10 points with four blocks for the Spurs were unable to extend their four-game win streak and fell one win shy of matching the NBA record for the best road start (14-0 by the Golden State Warriors last season).
