DWIGHT Howard had 27 points and 15 rebounds, Dennis Schroder added 24 points and six assists as the Atlanta Hawks held on to beat Toronto in a high-scoring 125-121 win that ended the Raptors’ four-game winning streak on Friday (Saturday, Manila time).
Howard was 10 for 13 from the field while Schroder went 8 for 12. Kyle Korver was deadly from the outside, burying six of 10 triples off the bench as the Hawks are off to a good start in the first of back-to-back games.
Atlanta, which was coming form a loss to the Orlando Magic, started the first half strong to mount a 69-52 lead over the Raptors at halftime wn route to their 13th win in 26 games.
DeMar Derozan led Toronto to a late rally and managed to cut the deficit to four 124-121 with a three pointer with 10 seconds left.
Toronto fouled Schroder who made one of two free throws to make it 125-121.
Kyle Lowry, who had hit six triples, had his first miss from downtown in the dying moments with Thabo Sefolosha securing the rebound as time expired.
DeRozan finished with a game-high 34 points.
Lowry had 27 points and six assists while Cory Joseph added 17 for Toronto.
