DONOVAN Mitchell is donating $45,000 (around P2.1 million) from sales of his new signature sneakers to help fund the college education of Jacob Blake’s children.
The Marvel Spidey Sense edition of the D.O.N. Issue #2 was released on Friday (Saturday, Manila time), while the Crayola edition is set to be available starting Oct. 2.
“In such trying times, in turmoil, we must continue our efforts to bring awareness and change. Enough is enough, and we are tired,” Mitchell said.
“Education reform is something I’ve really believed in and I believe will be able to push out country and our future past the point we’re at, allowing kids to understand and be able to go in the same classrooms and be able to be taught a level playing field is something I believe is the key to generational success and being able to push past systemic racism, voter suppression and everything,” he added
Blake was shot by Wisonsin police, which caused massive protests including the stoppage of the NBA playoffs.
The NBA players have agreed to resume the playoffs.
Mitchell said Adidas agreed to match the $45,000 donation.
