WELL worth the wait.
Die-hard LeBron James fans of all ages, shapes, and sizes who endured the heat, rain, and fatigue were finally rewarded on Wednesday when Nike distributed coveted tickets to the NBA superstar’s fans’ day at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday.
Rico Santiago, events safety consultant for Nike and Titan, said over 4,000 tickets are going to be distributed by day’s end at Nike Park Bonifacio High Street in Taguig.

One of the lucky recipients was Lauren Quines, a 22-year-old fourth-year college student, who came all the way from Tarlac via bus just to camp out on Tuesday night for tickets to the Miami Heat superstar’s first visit in the Philippines.
She reached the venue at 7 p.m. when it was raining and was the 734th person to receive the tickets on Wednesday morning.
“Nakakapikon (yung ulan kagabi) pero okay lang. Sulit naman,” Quines told Spin.ph.
“A ballpark figure of 4,000” people were at the queue, according to Santiago, who already cut off the line as of 2 p.m.
“Kung sino lang ang nandun, sila lang ang makakakuha. We’re still not guaranteeing it, but we’re hoping to accommodate everyone.”
The last in line was Gibby Banaag, a 27-year-old bank account officer, who came to High Street at 9 a.m.
“I’m still hoping kasi there are rumors konti na lang ang maa-accommodate nila. Half of this line hindi pa sure makakakuha,” Banaag told Spin.ph.
Santiago said the rest of tickets will go to Nike’s endorsers, clients, and retailers, as well as VIPs and media.
“Dun pumupunta yung bulk of tickets,” said Santiago, who nonetheless admitted the prevalence of incidents where tickets landed in the hands of scalpers.
“We are giving these tickets in good intention. Now, these guys that want to scalp them, we can’t control it. (But) we don’t endorse it, we don’t condone it.”
