NEW YORK Knicks point guard Derrick Rose was absent in Monday's game (Tuesday, Manila time) against the New Orleans Pelicans for still undetermined reasons.
ESPN reported that sources told them efforts by Knicks officials to contact the 28-year old star before the game proved unsuccessful.
A statement issued by the Knicks before tipoff said Rose was not with the team.
Multiple sites later reported that Rose told team officials he went to Chicago to deal with a 'family situation.' Joakim Noah, his teammate since the Bulls days, told reporters asking about Rose that 'he's okay' but declined to talk about his whereabouts.
Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek did not mention anything about Rose when he talked to reporters before the game.
Traded from the Chicago Bulls in the offseason, Rose currently is averaging 17.3 points, 4.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds in the 33 games he has played so far.
