DANILO Gallinari drained the go-ahead jumper and Wilson Chandler came up with the game-saving block as the Denver Nuggets overcame Karl Anthony Towns’ triple-double performance for a 105-103 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).
Gallinari broke a 103-all deadlock with a contested 14-foot jumper with 27 seconds left in the game, and Chandler denied Wolves’ Andrew Wiggins layup attempt to the tie the game in the next play. Zach LaVine stole a Gary Harris pass but missed a 3-pointer as time expired.
Denver led by as much as 10 points in the final period but the Wolves rallied to tie the match at 103 with 58 ticks left.
Gallinari and Chandler led the Nuggets to their second straight win with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Nikola Jokic was two-rebounds shy of a triple-double for Denver and finished with 16 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds.
Andrew Wiggins had 25 points for the Timberwolves who fell to 10-22, while Gorgui Dieng added 20. Towns had 15 markers, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
