JAMAL Murray had a career-high 24 points as the caNuggets bench managed to hold off the Chicago Bulls for a close 110-107 win in Denver on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time).
Murray went 9 for 13 from the field, 3-4 from three-point range, as a reserve. Jusuf Nurkic had 14 points and 14 rebounds. Wilson Chandler added 16 points and nine boards while Jameer Nelson dished out seven assists to go with his 10 points.
Denver was down 17-31 at the second quarter before going on a 24-0 run in eight minutes to make it 41-31. The Bulls were able to regroup to make it 60-all at the half.
Things were close in the fourth quarter. Butler tied the game 107-all with a triple with 56 seconds left. Will Barton drew the foul from Dwyane Wade to sink both charities, 109-107, to seal the win. The Bulls’ Isaiah Canaan missed a three-point attempt and the Bulls fouled Danilo Gallinari who made 1-2 free throws.
Denver improved to 6-8.
The loss spoiled Jimmy Butler’s solid performance of 35 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Wade returned to the lineup and added 22 points. The Bulls have lost 10 straight in Denver and is 3-5 in their road trip.
