Kings snap out of a three-game slump with a 31-point rout over league-worst Mavs

THE Sacramento Kings used a strong start in the second half to rout the league-worst Dallas Mavericks, 120-89, and snap out of a three-game slump on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) at the American Airlines Center.

Leading only by four at the break, the Kings started the third quarter with an 11-0 run and built a 23-point lead as they outscored the Mavs, 29-12, in the period. The Sacramento bench added to the onslaught in leading by as much as 33 points with less than two minutes left in the game.

DeMarcus Cousins led the charge for Sacramento with 24 points, 14 rebounds and matched his season-high seven assists. Rudy Gay and Darren Collison each added 19, and Garrett Temple chipped in 17 off the bench to help the Kings improve to 8-13.

Deron Williams had 20 points to lead Dallas, who are at last place with a 4-17 card. Wes Matthews added 16, while Justin Anderson scored 13 off the bench. Mavs top scorer Harrison Barnes struggled with his shot, making just 5-of-16 to finish with 11 points.
