THE Golden State Warriors are a loss away from missing the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014.
Yet there's no tinge of panic in Steve Kerr.
"Call me crazy, (but) I feel it, I know exactly what I'm seeing out there," said Kerr, just moments after the Houston Rockets pulled off a thrilling 98-94 victory on Friday to take a 3-2 lead in the NBA Western Conference Finals.
The defending champions will need to win Game Six at home on Sunday and a Game Seven in Houston to get back to the finals, but Kerr, believe it or not, likes where his team is right now.
"We defended them beautifully tonight, we got everything we needed," he added. "Just too many turnovers, too many reaches.
"But if we settle down a little bit, we'll be in pretty good shape."
Kerr didn't even sound bothered by the late fumble by Draymond Green that denied the Warriors a shot at an equalizer - and enabled Eric Gordon to seal the Rockets' win with two free throws with 2.4 seconds left.
But he did have something to say about the 'reaches' that gave Gordon 10 free throws and James Harden nine.
If the Warriors can take those away, Kerr has no doubt this series will go their way.
"I like what I see out there and with a little more discipline, things can turn around for us," said Kerr. "I'm extremely confident that we're going to take care of business. We've just got to be a little sharper."
