THE Hawks used a huge third-quarter run to take control and cruised to a 116-102 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday in Atlanta (Tuesday, Manila time).
Trailing by six at halftime, the Hawks overpowered the Pelicans 37-14 in the third and never looked back.
Deandre Brembry came off the bench to score 20, while starting forward John Collins delivered 18 points to give the Hawks a big win in their preseason opener.
Alex Poythress had 13 points, while Trae Young and Tyler Dorsey had 11 points each for Atlanta.
Anthony Davis scored 16 and Jrue Holiday added 13 for New Orleans, winless in two games.
Julius Randle and Troy Williams scored 11 each for the Pelicans.
