THE Dallas Mavericks took advantage of a Los Angeles Lakers side that sat out its stars in the second half, pulling off a 108-104 win in their first scrimmage on Friday, Manila time in Disney, Orlando ahead of the NBA’s official return next week.
The Mavericks erased an 11-point halftime deficit as LeBron James and Anthony Davis sat on the bench in the second half after a solid first two quarters that helped the Lakers build an early lead.
Seth Curry was on target, making all of his eight field goals – including six treys – on the way to firing 23 points in just 16 minutes.
Boban Marjanovic stamped his size edge in the paint, putting up 17 points, 13 boards, two blocks, two assists, and one steal, while Luka Doncic also picked up from where he left off, chipping in 14 points, six assists, five rebounds, and a steal.
James and Davis registered 12 points apiece before resting after intermission for the Lakers, who saw JaVale McGee and Quinn Cook leading the way with 13 points each.
