NEWLY-SIGNED Dallas Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews admitted he felt ‘disrespected’ by the Portland Trail Blazers, claiming his old team never reached out to him during free agency.
According to a report of The Oregonian's Jason Quick, the 28-year old shooting guard claimed the Blazers never made an attempt to contact him at the end of his contract with the team.
“I was pissed off. I felt disrespected,” said Matthews, who played five seasons for Portland. He was averaging 16 points a game and almost 40 percent from beyond the arc before an Achilles tear last season limited him to just 59 games.
A three-point specialist and a talented perimeter defender, the talented son of former Ginebra import Wes Matthews signed a four-year, US$70 million deal with the Mavericks as a free agent.
