HARRISON Barnes took charge late as the Dallas Mavericks held on to a 103-95 win over the New York Knicks at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).

Dallas led by as much as 10 in the third before New York cut the lead down to one midway through the fourth. But Barnes and Seth Curry sparked an 8-0 blast to put the Mavericks up 97-88 with four minutes remaining.

Kristaps Porzingis completed a three-point play to put the Knicks within four with 56 seconds to play, but Barnes drilled a pair of free throws in the next Dallas possession to keep New York at bay.

Barnes led Dallas (16-29) with 23 points, while Curry and Dirk Nowitzki added 20 and 19 markers, respectively.

Carmelo Anthony had a scorching start for the Knicks (20-27), with 22 of his 30 points scored in the first half. Courtney Lee added 23, while Porzingis scored all 13 of his points in the second half after getting into early foul trouble.
