LYCEUM vented its ire on hapless Arellano, 113-79, to assure itself of a playoff for a semis spot in the NCAA Season 94 on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Coming off a shock to 83-81 loss at the hands of the Perpetual Altas which snapped their 30-game winning run in the eliminations, the Pirates looked determined to bounce back and they did just that by putting the pain on the struggling Chiefs, forcing turnover after turnover en route to the 34 point blowout.
Lyceum jumped to an 11-2 lead early and never looked back as they padded that lead to as many as 39 points, 113-74, following a Spencer Pretta three-pointer as they improved to 13-1 for the season.
“That loss was a big opportunity for us to really get better and be the better persons for ourselves,” said Lyceum head coach Topex Robinson.
“I even got angry cause there was a time when we weren’t respecting the game. I called a time out and reminded them that we should always be respecting this game,” he added.
Playing without his twin brother JV, JC Marcelino came out firing as he finished with 21 points to lead six players in double digits.
CJ Perez was an assist short of a triple double as he finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds, MJ Ayaay added 16 points, Pretta drained five three pointers to finish with 15, Raymar Caduyac scored 13 and Jeff Santos added 11.
Lyceum’s 113 points were the most scored this season. Also season bests are the Pirates 14 three-pointers and 27 assists.
Archie Concepcion had 16 points and eight rebounds as the Chiefs dropped their fourth straight game to fall to 4-9 for the tournament.
