    DeMarcus Cousins explodes for season-high 55 as Kings pull off come-from-behind win vs Blazers

    DEMARCUS Cousins beasted out for a season-high 55 points to go with 13 rebounds as the Sacramento Kings took a gritty 126-121 come-from-behind win against the slumping Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

    Cousins, who was a point shy from his career-best 56 markers, shot 17-for-28 from the field. The volatile big man was ejected when he spit his mouthpiece at the Portland bench after being fouled in scoring his 54th point. Cousins was sprinting to the locker room when the call was overturned by officials.

    Ty Lawson had 16 points and eight assists for the Kings. Reserves Aaron Afflalo and Anthony Tolliver chipped in 11 points apiece. Darren Collison added 10 points and three rebounds.       

    The Kings trailed for most of the game and were down 60-72 at halftime as CJ McCollum had the hot hand in the first two quarters.

    The score was 99-93 in favor of Portland at the start of the fourth quarter before the Kings opened the last period with a 9-2 run to take the lead 102-101 at the 8:25 mark.

    A dunk by Mason Plumlee tied the game 119-all with 46 seconds left.

    Cousins was fouled after a making a layup and sank the free throw to give the Kings a three-point lead, 122-119. Ty Lawson was later fouled and his two charities made it 124-119 with 11 seconds remaining.

    Plumlee made another dunk to cut the lead to three 124-121 but Garrett Temple drew a foul and made both free throws as Kings pulled away for the win.

    CJ McCollum had 36 points for Portland which lost its third straight game. Plumlee finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds while Damian Lillard had 24 points and 15 assists.
