CHICAGO locked down Damian Lillard early to nab a wire-to-wire romp over Portland, 113-88, at the Moda Center on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time)
The Bulls defense, led by Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson, held Lillard scoreless in the first period as the Blazers star missed all of his eight attempts in the quarter, setting the tone for the blowout.
Lillard managed to get his first basket midway through the second but had a miserable 2-of-13 before the half, and Chicago built its largest lead at 25 points in the same period before leading 56-37 at the break.
The Bulls lead never dipped below 18 in the second half, as Chicago limited Portland to just 35.8 shooting from the field, and 26.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Butler led the offense for Chicago, which saw all of its starters scoring in double figures, with 27 points. Dwyane Wade added 19 markers. Jerian Grant started for the injured Rajon Rondo and finished with 18 markers and five steals.Robin Lopez and Gibson each hauled 11 rebounds while chipping in 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Bulls won their third straight game to put their record at 7-4.
Lillard ended up with 19 points, and CJ McCollum added 17 for the Blazers, who fell to 7-5. Allen Crabbe was the only other player to score in double digits for Portland with 15 off the bench.
