MARIO Chalmers is hoping to be tapped as replacement after the Lakers suffered a huge blow following the injury to Rajon Rondo.
A former Miami Heat teammate of LeBron James, Chalmers made known his desire to join the Lakers after it was announced Rondo suffered a thumb injury that will keep him out up to eight weeks.

When the Rondo injury news came out, Chalmers made his pitch on social media, saying he has been “patiently waiting and workin.”
Chalmers suited up in the Italian and Greek leagues after his last NBA stint with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018.

The Lakers brought in former James teammate JR Smith for the NBA restart when Avery Bradley decided no to join the team in the NBA restart.
A return to the NBA for the 34-year-old Chalmers under these circumstances is not possible, however.
Teams are allowed replacements only for those who opted out of the restart, not players who are sidelined by injuries at the NBA bubble.
