CARMELO Anthony shrugged off some boos from the home crowd and overcame poor shooting to score 18 points while Courtney Lee added 16 against his former team as the New York Knicks defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 110-107, on Friday at Madison Square Garden Saturday, Manila time).
Anthony struggled with an 8 for 26 performance from the field but his lone basket in the fourth, a jumper with 13 seconds left that, kept New York in control.
Lee scored nine straight points and hit a 3-pointer to give the Knicks the lead with 1:39 left.
Lee was acquired by the Knicks in the offseason after helping the Hornets reach the playoffs last season.
Kemba Walker led the Hornets with 31 points and 10 rebounds Marvin Williams had 17 points.
Kristaps Porzingis also scored 18 points for the Knicks before fouling out. Brandon Jennings subbed in for an injured Derrick Rose added 15 points.
The Knicks led by 11 points before the Hornets took the lead with a 36-point third quarter.
