KENNETH Duremdes and Jojo Lastimosa said the feeling of playing against the NBA legends last year at the Mall of Asia Arena was something they'll cherish for the rest of their lives.
But on October 10, they will have a chance to see the current stars in action when the Houston Rockets play the Indiana Pacers in a preseason game on the same floor where they saw action against the likes of retired NBA stars Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman.
For Duremdes, playing against the NBA legends was a huge experience for him but seeing the current crop of NBA stars will be the next best thing.
“Nakalaro namin mga legends, it was a hell of an experience. Memorable talaga ‘yun,” said Duremdes. “Pero magiging memorable din ito kasi ‘yung mga baguhang mga NBA superstars ang mapapanood natin.”
Lastimosa was also part of that team and said that it will be a different experience in itself since they will be seeing a competitive team in a preseason contest.
“Talagang solid ‘yung mga teams na maglalaro dito,” said Lastimosa, who last witnessed an NBA game when the Los Angeles Clippers played the Miami Heat in nearby Shanghai, China last year.
“May mga pumunta na ditong mga All-Star teams pero iba ‘yung buong team. It’s really going to be exciting,” Lastimosa said.
Lastimosa and Duremdes, former teammates with Alaska in the PBA, is very much looking forward to watching the first NBA preseason game in the country.
Lastimosa said that he was still too young and too far from Manila to witness the Washington Bullets play a PBA selection team in 1979 at the Araneta Coliseum.
“I’m excited dahil ‘yung naglaro dito ‘yung Washington Bullets, nasa probinsya pa ako,” said Lastimosa.
Duremdes is hoping that he could watch the game for free.
“May free tickets ba?” said Duremdes in jest. “Excited tayo na ma-experience din ‘yan.”
