BURGLARS have broken into the home of former NBA player and coach Derek Fisher on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time) in Los Angeles and stole $300,000 worth of jewelry that included his five NBA championship rings.

TMZ reported that among the missing items from Fisher’s residence in the affluent Tarzana neighborhood were the rings from five NBA titles Fisher received as a player with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Los Angeles police said the house was unoccupied during the incident.

Another TMZ report noted that a Lakers representative said the team could help Fisher with getting replacements from the companies that manufactured the rings. It has not been clarified who will pay foot the bill.

The 42-year old Fisher, currently a TV analyst on local Lakers broadcasts, reported the incident to police. The former Laker point guard said he left his home 7:30 a.m. and discovered that someone had entered his home when he returned three hours later.
