BROOKLYN lost a key player, but gained another.
After sending Jeremy Lin to Atlanta for a future second-round pick, the Nets have acquired Kenneth Faried, as well as Darrell Arthur, a 2019 protected first-round pick, and a 2020 second-round pick in a trade with the Denver Nuggets.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN first reported the development.
The Nuggets got Isaiah Whitehead in return, but they are also waiving the incoming third-year guard in a salary-dumping move.
Wojnarowski reported that Denver will free up $21 million in salary that potentially saves the Nuggets $43 million in payroll and luxury tax this upcoming season.
The Nets are getting Faried, who averaged just 5.9 points and 4.8 boards after falling out of the rotation last season, but remains a promising power forward.
