THE Nets wasted a double-digit fourth-quarter lead but Brook Lopez preserved the win, hitting a jumper at the buzzer off a Randy Foye assist to lift the Nets to a 98-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday in Brooklyn (Wednesday, Manila time).
The Nets ended a two-game slide and notched their 14th win in 70 games.
Lopez scored 29 points on 13 of 24 shooting, while Caris LeVert went 5 for 8 and wound up with 15 points.
KJ McDaniels came off the bench to deliver 11 points for Brooklyn, the league’s bottom team.
The Pistons, meanwhile, hit another huge bump in the chase for a playoff spot, suffering their fourth loss in the last five games.
Tobias Harris scored 24 and Andre Drummod had 13 points and 17 rebounds.
Ish Smith came off the bench to score 16 for Detroit, running ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 34-37 record
