BLAKE Griffin will be grounded for three to six weeks as the high-flying forward is set for arthroscopic knee surgery, the Los Angeles Clippers announced on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time).
The Vertical first broke the news Sunday, and the team made the official announcement the next day saying that the five-time NBA All-Star will undergo the procedure to remove loose bodies from his right knee.
Griffin is said to have been playing with a sore knee for some time and missed a game last weekend due to the condition.
A major contributor for the Clippers, the 27-year old forward has been averaging 21 points and almost nine rebounds in the 26 games he has played.
Injuries have hounded Griffin in his pro career. He missed his rookie season with an injury to his left knee which also required surgery. Last season, he was out of action for three months after he broke his right hand in a fight with the team's former assistant equipment manager.
He missed the last two games of the playoffs when he reinjured his left quadriceps tendon.
