BLAKE Griffin nailed a buzzer-beating three-pointer as the Los Angeles Clippers stunned the Portland Trail Blazers, 104-103, on Thursday (Friday, Manila time) at the Moda Center to start the season unbeaten in four games
The Clippers started out strong and led by as much as 10 in the third, but Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum led a Blazers fightback, with Portland taking a 94-91 lead near the halfway mark of the fourth period.
The back-and-forth battle continued as Griffin scored three huge baskets to bring the Clippers back on top, 101-100, with 1:06 left. McCollum, though, had an answer with pullup jumper to help the Blazers regain the lead, 102-101, with 43 ticks remaining.
On the next play, Danilo Gallinari came up empty on his shot but Patrick Beverley gathered the miss. Still, the Clippers blew the second opportunity as Austin Rivers got called for a charge.
After a split at the stripe for McCollum, the Clippers had another chance to keep their streak alive and turned to Griffin, who made his second triple of the match to win the game for their fourth straight win.
