BLAKE Griffin is staying with the Los Angeles Clippers after agreeing to a five-year, $173 million maximum contract deal.

According to The Vertical, sources within the NBA said the five-time All-Star Griffin reached the agreement when he met Clippers ownership and front office on Friday (Saturday, Manila time).

After sending Chris Paul in a trade to the Houston Rockets, Clippers coach and team president Doc Rivers went on to focus on retaining the 28-year-old forward, who has averaged 21.5 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists in seven season all with the Clips.

Griffin, however, did not get a no-trade clause in his new deal, sources also told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

The 6-foot-10 Griffin had previously told the team he was declining his player option to become a free agent, but had a change of heart after his meeting with Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, special consultant Jerry West, Rivers and some teammates at Staples Center.
