BLAKE Griffin apologized to fans and the Los Angeles Clippers organization after he injured his shooting hand when he punched a member of the team staff.

"A situation among friends escalated and I regret the way I handled myself towards someone I care about...," said Griffin.

The injury will keep Griffin out for up to six weeks and he says he hopes to play soon.

The Clippers said “appropriate action will be taken” after an investigation.

Reports said the employee that was struck equipment manager Matias Testi.

“This conduct has no place in our organization and this incident does not represent who we are as a team,” said team owner Steve Ballmer and coach Doc Rivers in a joint statement.
