PAUL Millsap powered a late flurry as the Atlanta Hawks turned back the Dallas Mavericks, 100-95, at the Philips Arena on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).
The Hawks led for most of the game, building a 12-point early on and holding an 87-81 edge near the midway point of the fourth quarter. But Seth Curry led a 12-2 rally as the Mavs took control, 93-89, with 2:39 left to play.
Atlanta countered with an 11-2 finish, with Millsap giving the Hawks back the lead for good, 96-95, with 30.5 ticks remaining after hitting a tough basket off a spin move. Kent Bazemore then came up big on defense in two straight possessions, challenging a Harrison Barnes jumper and slamming home the game-clinching basket after a steal off Curry who slipped on an inbound play.
Millsap flirted with a triple-double as he finished with 18 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. Ersan Ilyasova also added 18 markers off the bench, while Dennis Schroder chipped in 17 for the Hawks (34-26), who have won two straight games.
Dallas fell to 24-36 despite getting 25 points from Barnes. Curry also added 21 markers, including five triples. Dirk Nowitzki and Yogi Ferrell each had 11 points.
