A bigger – and better – Anthony Davis is ready to suit up for the New Orleans Pelicans this coming NBA season.

The 6-foot-10 forward added bulk to his frame as he worked out with team strength and conditioning coach Jason Sumerlin this summer.

Davis added 12 pounds to his weight through dieting and lifting, and remains at 10 percent body fat and weighs a solid 253 pounds.

... He has been lifting consistently, doing all the small things perfectly and efficiently. We are more consistent in his lifts and his corrective exercises. He's lifted a lot more weight - he's stronger than he's ever been,” said Sumerlin in an interview with Jim Eichenhofer of NBA.com.

The added weight comes at a time when Davis is just a season removed from a dominant showing with the Pelicans after averaging 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.9 block shots, numbers that earned for him a spot in the Western Conference All-Star team and the All-NBA First Team.

It appears that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

“He’s going to be stronger, faster, quicker, and more explosive this year,” Sumerlin said of Davis, who received a massive contract extension from New Orleans management.
