Anthony Davis eclipses Karl-Anthony Towns in duel of young big men as Pelicans down Wolves

ANTHONY Davis had 42 points and 13 rebounds and got the better of Karl-Anthony Towns in a showdown of young big men to lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a 122-106 victory over the struggling Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night (Saturday, Manila time).

Davis made 16 of 22 baskets to lead New Orleans to a season-high 60 field goal percentage. He has scored 40 or more for the sixth time this season.

Jrue Holiday had 25 points and 12 assists while Buddy Hield scored 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting for the Pelicans.

After Towns picked up his fourth foul in the third quarter, New Orleans went on to scored 37 points in the period, turning a four-point deficit into a nine-point lead going into the fourth.

Towns finished with 36 points and Andrew Wiggins had 29 for the Timberwolves, who have failed to capitalize on a six-game stretch at home, losing two of three. Ricky Rubio had 15 points and 12 assists.
