Johnson, Thomas lead way as Horford-less Celtics deal Bulls first loss

AMIR Johnson delivered huge for an Al Horford-less Celtics squad, scoring 23 points in a 107-100 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday in Boston (Thursday, Manila time).

Johnson went 4 for 4 from the 3-point line and wound up 9 for 11 in 30 minutes of play as Boston scored its second straight win and third in four outings.

Isaiah Thomas also scored 23 points, making 8 of 18 field goal attempts in 36 minutes of action.

Horford was ruled out of the game under concussion protocol after being hit in the head during practice.

The three other Celtics starters scored in double figures with Avery Bradley adding 13, Tyler Zeller 11 and Jae Crowder 10.

Jimmy Butler scored 23 points on 8 of 23 shooting for Chicago, Nikola Mirotic added 17, while Dwyane Wade had 15 points in 35 minutes.

It was Chicago’s first loss in four games.
