THREE-time NBA All Star Kevin Love will battle some of the PBA’s best snipers in a three-point shootout in the Master Game Face All-Star Basketball Challenge next week at the Araneta Coliseum.
The shootout featuring the 2012 NBA three-point king will serve as an interesting sidelight of the event that will have teams formed by Rain or Shine’s Chris Tiu and San Mig Coffee’s Marc Pingris battling it out on June 21 at the Big Dome.
The 6-foot-10 Minnesota Timberwolves forward will also hold a basketball clinic at the Manila Boystown in Marikina City and lead a charity auction at the Fairmont Makati Hotel during his visit.
In the 2013-2014 regular season, Love averaged 26.1 points, 4.4 assists and 12.5 rebounds and became the first player in NBA history to record 2,000 points, 900 rebounds and 100 three-pointers in a single season.
“We are thrilled to welcome to the country three-time NBA All-Star player Kevin Love. The Master Game Face All-Star Basketball Challenge is the perfect venue for this fast-rising NBA superstar dubbed by the Associated Press as the new face of the Timberwolves franchise, to showcase his signature moves and three-point shooting, as he puts his Master game face on against some of our best local players,” said Jonathan Pua, Unilever male grooming senior brand manager.
Sharing the limelight on gameday are other top PBA and collegiate players, with Team Chris featuring Jeron Teng, Chris Newsome, Kevin Ferrer, Mike Tolomia, Rome Dela Rosa, Mark Cruz, and Zach Nicholls and pros Ranidel de Ocampo, Jeff Chan, Mike Cortez, Jimmy Alapag, Cliff Hodge and Alex Nuyles.
Pingris, meanwhile, will be joined by collegiate standouts Andre Paras, Jeoffrey Javillonar, Jericho Cruz, Roi Sumang, Baser Amer, Kevin Racal, and Josan Nimes, with PBA players Gary David, Mark Barroca, Larry Fonacier, Jeric Teng, Jared Dillinger and Paul Artadi.
