NAVOTAS stayed hot in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as it came away with a thrilling 59-55 win over Caloocan on Wednesday at the People's Center in Bataan.
Levi Hernandez continued his brilliant ways for the Clutch while Ron Denison also had significant contributions down the stretch as the boys of coach Ritchie Ticzon improved to 2-0.
Hernandez's triple at the two-minute, 35-second mark gave the Clutch the lead for good, 55-53, before Denison scored the final four points to keep the Supremos at bay.
The former FEU Tamaraw also had some key stops late in the game to fend off the hard-fighting Caloocan squad.
Hernandez led the way for the Clutch with 15 points and seven rebounds as Denison once again filled the statsheet with 12 points, six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
It was a big win for the Clutch who took it home despite committing 28 turnovers all in all, though it was mitigated by their airtight defense.
For the match, they limited the Supremos to their worst offensive output since last conference- shackling them to a paltry 28-percent shooting from the field.
JR Cawaling was the lone double-digit scorer for the now 1-1 Caloocan as he finished with 13 points.
