    NU Lady Bulldogs-A, Team Rocan lead winners in NBA 3X Philippines 2017

    NATIONAL University-A and Team Rocan ruled the women's and men's open division, respectively, of the NBA 3X Philippines 2017 presented by AXA on July 23 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.

    The Lady Bulldogs-A of Trixie Antiquiera, Ria Joy Nabalan, Samantha Harada, and Rhena Itesi beat the NU-B squad in the women's final.

    “It was a challenge to have to face our teammates who are familiar with our style of play, but we are proud to earn this victory,” said Antiquiera.

    In the men's open division, Team Rocan of Christian Chua, Mark Fernandez, Elmer Dela Cruz, and Philip Torres beat Team 459 Legaspi of Letran in the men's open.

    A record turnout was seen in the tournament with 176 teams in the boys under-13, under-16, and under-18, girls under-18, men's open, and women's open registering for the event.

    Escuela de Sophia ruled the boys under-18, while Team Bulacan took the crown in the girls under-18 tournament. De La Salle-Zobel 2 and Berkeley Aquanauts were the boys under-13 and boys under-16 champions.

    AXA Life-A beat AXA's Go Elite in the special division for AXA, while Team Uy of sports analyst Dominic Uy and former PBA cager Vince Hizon beat Mongrel Mob of ex-PBA player Mark Andaya, TV host Bobby Yan, and actor Neil Sese in the celebrity division.

    In the individual categories, Billion Enriquez from Zamboanga took home the AXA 3-point shootout title; Brian Agarin of Cubao won the Panasonic Master 3-point contest; Alexis Ramos of Tanauan ruled the Cloudfone Shoot-Solve-Selfie Challenge; and Shekel Estrelles of Caloocan copped the Globe Do-It-Different 3-point challenge title.

    A total of P70,000 was also raised in the AXA Shoot For A Cause for the Tahanang Walang Hagdan.

    The event presented by AXA and supported by CloudFone, Globe At Home, Globe Prepaid, and Panasonic was witnessed by Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cal State Northridge coach Reggie Theus, and the Laker Girls.

    SM Mall of Asia and Spalding served as supporting partners while ABS-CBN Sports and Action, Basketball TV, and NBA Premium were the official NBA broadcasters for the event.
