JOSHUA Munzon and Taylor Statham have cracked the top 100 in the Fiba 3x3 rankings after their solid performances in the 2019 Fiba 3x3 Huaqiao International Kunshan Challenger in China last week.
Munzon is ranked 93rd-best in the world with 374,440 points, while Statham sits at 95th with 372,360 points.
The duo have been key performers for Pasig in the China tilt, with Munzon averaging 8.0 points per game and Statham 6.0 per outing.
Pasig Chooks missed out on advancing to the knockout stages of the Challenger, falling to Russian club Sosnovy BorCopRosatom and world No. 3 Liman of Serbia in the group stages.
"We lost to the better teams in Kunshan. But it's a learning experience for our players," said Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 league owner Ronald Mascarinas.
Still, the solid performances of Munzon and Statham allowed Pasig, the reigning President's Cup champion to also rise in the pro teams' rankings, jumping from 27th to now 24th in the world.
Pasig Chooks' three-place leap allowed them to rise over Serbian club Belgrade and Japanese teams Utsunomiya and Tachikawa.
Up next for Pasig Chooks will be the Tinkoff Moscow Challenger in Russia from June 7 to 8, where the duo, together with locals Dylan Ababou and Troy Rike, welcome back their reinforcements Nikola Pavlovic and Angelo Tsagarakis.
Also joining the Challenger, which will serve as a qualifier for the Prague Masters, is the Asia Pacific 3x3 Super Quest runner-up Balanga Chooks bannered by Alvin Pasaol, Karl Dehesa, Santi Santillan and Travis Franklin.
"We are hoping that either of our two squads will be able to get to the third leg of the World Tour," said Mascarinas, who is also gearing up for the import-laden Patriots' Cup in June.
