TAYLOR Statham and Joshua Munzon showed why they're the top Filipino 3x3 players, towing Pasig Chooks to a 21-14 victory over host Katara in the Doha Masters of the 2019 Fiba 3x3 World Tour on Thursday.
Statham was solid with his nine points, including the game-winning floater to start the President's Cup champions' campaign on a winning note in Pool A at the Katara Amphithreatre in Qatar.
Munzon also did damage as he pumped in seven points, including the rim-rattling dunk over Fadi Abilmona that put the game beyond reach, 18-12.
The win secured the Philippine side of a spot in the knockout playoffs. Pasig Chooks will try to snag the top spot in its group when it faces world no. 1 Liman of Serbia at 12:25 a.m.
Pasig Chooks started hot off the gates behind Statham, gaining control, 13-5, before frustrating the Qataris in the end game.
Serbian reinforcement Nikola Pavlovic added three points, while French sniper Angelo Tsagarakis got a pair in the victory.
Aaron Mitchell paced Katara with nine points as it bowed out of the tourney with two losses.
