SHAUN Ildefonso will team up with brother Dave at Abra North Weavers.
The elder Ildefonso has been signed by the reigning MPBL champion as the league kicks off Season 8 on Friday simultaneously in two different venues in Caloocan City and Laguna, respectively.
Rain or Shine no longer renewed the contract of the 28-year-old guard in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup, paving the way for him to join his brother, who is the main gunner of the North Weavers.
Shaun was a first round pick (no. 10 overall) by the Elasto Painters during the Season 47 draft.
While the eldest son of two-time MVP Danny Ildefonso had his time with Rain or Shine, the team has a loaded spot at shooting guard with the rise to stardom by Adrian Nocum, Gian Mamuyac and the eventual entry of rookies Vince Cuajao and Vincent David.
He was initially relegated in the injured/reserved list during the season-opening Philippine Cup, but never regained his place in the Elasto Painters' regular rotation.
Nonetheless, Shaun joining Abra made him the latest of the team's major acquisitions during the off season that saw the Northern Weavers signing the likes of DJ Fenner, Jake Figueroa, and JD Cagulangan.
