THE Quezon Huskers battered the Sarangani Grippers in the fourth quarter and won, 94-77, on Thursday to tighten their hold on the top spot in the South Division of the MPBL 2025 Season at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Held to a 60-60 count, the Huskers drew back-to-back baskets from Mon Abundo and Diego Dario to open the floodgates that pushed them to an 88-69 spread halfway through the fourth quarter.

The Huskers, the South's reigning titlists, extended their winning run to four and raised their record to 20-4 in the round-robin elimination phase of the 30-team, two-division tournament.
Judel Fuentes posted 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to clinch Best Player honors over Diego Dario, who notched 12 points and 4 rebounds, and LJ Gonzales, who chalked up 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals.
Sarangani skidded to 9-15 and shared 11th place with Imus in the race for South playoff spots.
The Grippers got 11 points, 10 assists and 3 rebounds from Kyt Jimenez and 13 points plus 8 rebounds from Coy Alves.
Abra leads the North Division with a 22-1 slate, followed by Nueva Ecija (22-2), and San Juan (21-2).
The MPBL resumes on Friday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan, with games pitting Rizal against Marikina at 4 p.m., Gensan against Batangas at 6 p.m., and San Juan against Binan at 8 p.m.
