The Quezon Huskers trounced the Marikina Shoemasters, 74-54, on Friday to join the MPBL 2025 Season pacesetters at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

Playing cohesively, the Huskers pulled away at 58-35 and never wavered en route to their fourth straight win that pushed them at the helm with the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards and the Rizal Xentromall Golden Coolers in the round-robin elimination phase of the 30-team tournament.

Alfrancis Tamsi posted 16 points, four assists and two steals to clinch best player honors over JP Sarao, also finished with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Homegrown Emman Tagle contributed nine points and Vince Magbuhos and Christian Pagaran six points each for Quezon Coach Eric Gonzales.

Hounded by poor shooting, Marikina absorbed its fifth straight loss as only homegrown Jomel Landayan finished in twin digits with 11. Michael Macion and Karl Penano notched eight points each.

With Tamsi and Sarao combining for 20 points, the Huskers erected a 41-27 halftime spread from which the Shoemasters could not recover.
