THE Pampanga Giant Lanterns have strengthened their roster in their bid for a third straight MPBL crown by acquiring three PBA players in Alvin Pasaol, Raffy Verano, and CJ Payawal.
The league confirmed the new deals that happened during the transfer window.
Pasaol and Verano are coming off stints with Meralco and Phoenix respectively in the PBA Philippine Cup wherein the Bolts and the Fuelmasters have been eliminated. Pasaol’s contract with Meralco expired on June 30.

Payawal’s PBA ballclub TNT is still in its semifinal campaign against Rain or Shine this conference, but he is not in the active roster and part of the Tropang 5G’s unrestricted free agent with rights to receive salary.
Payawal was drafted at No. 28 in the Season 49 draft by Phoenix, but was signed by TNT.
Pasaol, Payawal, and Verano were part of Pampanga’s 22-man roster prior to the season, making them eligible to be signed by the Giant Lanterns during the transfer window. The three players are making their return to the MPBL.
After winning their second straight title last season with the team backed by Justine Baltazar, the Giant Lanterns are making a push with the team in fourth place in the Northern Division with a 13-4 win-loss record.
They are behind undefeated Nueva Ecija, Abra, and San Juan.
