THE JUNIOR MPBL is slated to open its third season in April with a goal of continuing to discover new talents across the country.

Junior MPBL officials are looking forward to the upcoming year following the second season that saw Tatak Gel Binan winning the Under-14 division under team owner and Binan vice mayor Gel Alonte and head coach Mak Arzola; San Pedro Spartans ruling the Under-16 division under team owner Mitchel Verzosa and head coach Teddy Polinga; and Palawan Yurich Builders taking home the Under-18 title under team owner Red Go and head coach Joph Cleopas.

“We’ve witnessed the incredible potential of these young athletes over the past two seasons,” said Sen. Manny Pacquiao, Junior MPBL founder. “Our goal has always been to provide a platform where these players can develop, gain exposure, and take their talents to the next level. This third season promises to be even more exciting.”

Sam Esomchi from the Under-14, Joseph Calo-oy from the Under-16, and Jhonas Panahon from the Under-18 were named Season MVP in their respective age groups.

For the new season, league officials said at least two teams will enter that will give more opportunities to young players.

“We are committed to the development of our young athletes,” said Keith Picazo, Junior MPBL commissioner. “The addition of new teams will not only enhance the competition, but also offer more chances for talented players to shine. We hope to continue helping them achieve their goals, whether it's earning a scholarship or even a spot in the professional leagues in the future.”

“The third season will be a game-changer, with more teams and more opportunities for our athletes to shine,” said Junior MPBL executive director Jayr Navarro.

Pacquiao is hoping that more players will get a chance to get scholarships from schools through the Junior MPBL.
